Four of the Greatest Living Memes

Internet humor has been fueling the so-called “Meme Machine” for over a decade. A meme is an internet joke that gets passed around from person to person, so a living meme is when an actual person gets passed around as a joke. There are so many great living memes to choose from, but these are some of the best living memes. Let’s get started and take a look at four of the greatest living memes.

1. Bad Luck Brian

In 2012 on a neat little website called Reddit, someone posted a picture of a goofy looking kid with braces and a red sweater vest with a caption. The caption said, “Takes driving test, gets first DUI.” However, this is not when Bad Luck Brian blew up. On the same day that the original picture was posted, someone posted the same picture with a different caption. The caption said, “Tries to stealthily fart in class, shits.” The post reached the front page of the subreddit /r/adviceanimals accumulating over 3,300 upvotes in less than two months. The face of the joke was later figured out to be a man named Kyle Craven. Kyle was a college student in Ohio when he first heard about his rise internet fame. He now has a Bad Luck Brian YouTube channel with over 50,000 subs. Bad Luck Brian may now be a stale internet joke, but he will live on in our hearts forever.

2. Jon Sakars

Jon Sakars reached ultimate living internet joke status when he uploaded a video to YouTube in 2013 titled “A Sexy Surprise For Adult Vegans.” The video starts off with a creepy guy (Jon Sakars) talking about how the video is not for “carnists” (people who eat meat) or anyone who is under the age of 18. Jon then starts imitating the act of fellatio in the weirdest and creepiest way possible. As he kisses up our thighs, we can’t help but cringe at the sight of it. The video altogether makes you so uncomfortable that most can’t watch from start to finish. Jon also uploaded another video in 2013 titled, “You Wanna Suck?” In this video, Jon is dressed up in a cow costume asking a woman if she wants to suck on his teats. Although the video is scripted, it still makes you uncomfortable. He says things like, “Oh, I’ve got lots of milk inside me, baby.” and “Suck it out. Oh yeah, baby.” With a list full of terrible and cringe-inducing videos, Jon Sakars will forever go down in history as one of the best living memes of all time.

3. Filthy Frank

George “Joji” Miller is the mastermind behind Filthy Frank. Frank is the quote on quote “God of YouTube.” The character is based on the average /b/ user on 4chan. Frank has earned a cult following for being racist, misogynistic, sexist, homophobic, filthy, vulgar, downright offensive, but mostly for being hilarious. Filthy Frank came onto the YouTube scene in 2011. He is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with society. His most popular video titled, “WEABOOS” has over 8 million views, and in the video, he talks about how ridiculous weeaboos and Japanophiles are. He mocks them for thinking that they won’t be ridiculed in Japan for being weeaboos. He also has another character named Pink Guy, who has a full album out. Filthy Frank is someone who you either love or hate. His popularly offensive yet funny demeanor has earned him his place as one of the greatest living internet memes.

4. Ethan Klein

9d3
On March 13, 2013, Ethan Klein uploaded a video to his YouTube channel titled “Wiping”, but it wasn’t until months later that he became famous for his iconic h3h3Productions reaction videos. Ethan Klein is the embodiment of all that is righteous and holy on the internet. He is best known for his hacking and coughing to show his disgust with an idea or video. Ethan is heavily critical of the prank channels on YouTube. He calls out all of the “pranksters” on their fake videos. Most notably calling out SoFloAntonio for stealing other people’s content and jokes. Ethan is beloved by most anybody who stumbles across his channel, and he’s the voice of the people on YouTube. The one who speaks for those who have no voice. The one calls out PrankInvasion for his fake kissing pranks, but most importantly the one who has had subscribers backs since the very beginning. Ethan Klein is more than a man; he is the king of internet humor. For that, he will always be one of the greatest living internet memes. Papa Bless.
