There are over 72 million pet dogs in the United States alone. Experts have varying opinions about how long dogs have been domesticated, but there is no question that dogs and humans are best friends. Dog lovers treat their four-legged friends like members of the family. Sometimes they treat their dogs better than members of the family. There is just something about a dog’s unconditional love that makes the hearts of humans flutter.
Are you a true dog lover? Here are 10 ways to tell:
- You don’t mind being greeted by an uncontrollable, drooling bundle of joy when you come home from a hard day at work. In fact, you like it!
- You get excited just thinking about shopping for that new poop scoop.
- You wake up during the night to find yourself straddling the edge of the bed because your dog needs more room.
- When you are in a restaurant, without thinking, you tear off a little piece of steak, hold it under the table and expect the dog to snatch it.
- When your dog jumps on visitors, you exclaim, “Isn’t he cute?”
- You ask people how their dogs are before you ask about their kids.
- You yell at the kids and tell them to “Sit – Stay!”
- Your dog has a toy box, filled to the brim.
- Your dog has more clothes than you do.
- It takes an hour to show someone all of the pictures you keep in your wallet of your adorable pooch– the dog sleeping, the dog eating, the dog walking, the dog sitting…
If all of the above applies to you, you are a true dog lover. Congratulations! If only some of the above applies, keep at it. Practice makes perfect. It won’t take long for you to turn into a true dog lover yourself.
